Image Processing Photoshop

Image processing in Photoshop is the use of digital tools to adjust, organize, and present image data, making biological images easier to inspect and communicate. Photoshop operates on pixels through color channels, layers, selections, and adjustment controls that modify properties such as brightness, contrast, color, and sharpness while preserving editable versions of the workflow. In biology, these functions support microscopy-image preparation, figure assembly, labeling, and visual comparison of cells, tissues, or experimental conditions. Researchers must distinguish presentation edits from quantitative analysis, retain original files, and report adjustments clearly so that image processing improves communication without misrepresenting the underlying evidence.
