Native Morphology

Native morphology is the study or description of biological form and structure as they occur in an organism, tissue, cell, or specimen before experimental alteration. It focuses on preserving and examining natural anatomical relationships, including shape, size, spatial organization, and visible structural features, so observations reflect the specimen’s original state rather than changes caused by processing or culture. In biology, native morphology supports organism identification, comparative anatomy, developmental studies, and assessment of structural changes associated with disease or environmental conditions. Establishing this baseline also helps researchers distinguish genuine biological variation from preparation-related artifacts.

2012

Simple and reproducible procedures are described for making three structurally distinct collagen assemblies from a common commercially available Type I collagen monomer. Native type, fibrous long spacing or segmental long spacing collagen can be constructed by varying the conditions to which the 300 nm long and 1.4 nm diameter monomer building block is exposed.

2025

This video describes multimeric PAGE for separating native protein complexes from tissue homogenates. The technique is a hybrid of blue native-PAGE and SDS-PAGE techniques. The separated complexes can be characterized and studied for their role in cell functioning.

Capturing Common Fragile Site Breaks by Native γH2A.X ChIP

2025

We present a rapid and efficient method to detect common fragile site breaks through native γH2A.X chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP). This approach significantly reduces both the time and labor associated with traditional γH2A.X ChIP assays while maintaining high reproducibility and reliability of results.
