Ocular Microvessel Excision

Ocular microvessel excision is a microsurgical technique for isolating and removing small blood vessels from ocular tissue, enabling focused study of eye vascular biology. Under high magnification, delicate instruments separate target microvessels from surrounding tissue while minimizing structural disruption, producing specimens suitable for downstream examination. The method supports analyses of vessel morphology, tissue-specific molecular features, and vascular changes associated with ocular disease or experimental treatment. By providing more precise access to individual components of the eye’s microcirculation, ocular microvessel excision can improve investigations of angiogenesis, vascular injury, and mechanisms that influence retinal and other ocular tissues.

Base Excision Repair

2020

One of the common DNA damages is the chemical alteration of single bases by alkylation, oxidation, or deamination. The altered bases cause mispairing and strand breakage during replication. This type of damage causes minimal change to the DNA double helix structure and can be repaired by the base excision repair (BER) pathways. BER corrects damaged DNA sequences by removing the damaged base and restoring the original base sequence using the complementary strand as a template. The first step of...
