Omics Studies

Omics studies are comprehensive approaches for measuring the molecules that define biological systems, including genes, transcripts, proteins, and metabolites. Using high-throughput technologies such as sequencing and mass spectrometry, researchers profile molecular components across cells, tissues, organisms, or conditions and use computational analysis to identify patterns, interactions, and changes. These studies support systems biology by connecting molecular variation with biological function, development, disease, and responses to environmental or experimental factors. Integrating multiple omics layers can reveal regulatory relationships and generate testable hypotheses, helping researchers characterize complex traits, identify biomarkers, and guide advances in diagnostics, therapeutics, and personalized biology.

2019

Drosophila flight muscle is a powerful model to study transcriptional regulation, alternative splicing, metabolism, and mechanobiology. We present a protocol for dissection of fluorescent-labeled flight muscle from live pupae to generate highly enriched samples ideal for proteomics and deep-sequencing. These samples can offer important mechanistic insights into diverse aspects of muscle development.
