Photolithography Master

A photolithography master is a precisely patterned template used to create repeatable microscale features for scientific and engineering applications. It is typically produced by exposing a light-sensitive photoresist through a patterned mask, causing selected regions to change chemically so development removes or preserves defined areas and forms surface relief. In biology, the resulting master can guide replication of microfluidic channels, cell-culture substrates, and other structures that control fluid flow, cell positioning, or tissue organization. This approach supports reproducible experimental platforms for studying cellular behavior, developing diagnostic devices, and engineering tissue-like systems.

Microfabrication via Photolithography

2023

The fabrication of BioMEM devices is often done using a microfabrication technique called photolithography. This widely used method utilizes light to transfer a pattern onto a silicon wafer, and provides the basis for the fabrication of many types of BioMEM devices. This video presents the photolithography technique, shows how the process is performed in the cleanroom, and introduces some applications of the process.

Master Transcription Regulators

2020

Master transcription regulators are regulatory proteins that are predominantly responsible for regulating the expression of multiple genes. Often these genes work in concert to drive a complex process. Activation of a master transcription regulator can lead to a cascade of transcriptional activation necessary for that outcome. These regulators can directly bind to the regulatory sequences of the various genes involved, or they can indirectly regulate transcription by binding to regulatory...
