Tau Beta Amyloid Measurement

Tau and beta-amyloid measurement refers to the quantitative analysis of two protein biomarkers associated with neuronal injury and Alzheimer’s disease pathology. In laboratory assays, selective antibodies bind tau or beta-amyloid in biological samples such as cerebrospinal fluid or plasma, and the resulting signal is compared with calibrated standards to estimate protein concentration. These measurements help researchers characterize amyloid accumulation, tau-related neurodegeneration, and changes across disease stages. In biology and neuroscience, combining tau and beta-amyloid data supports biomarker validation, disease monitoring, clinical research, and evaluation of potential therapies, while improving understanding of how molecular changes relate to cognitive decline.

An Assay for Analyzing Test β-Glucan as an Immunotherapy Strategy against Brain Cancer Cells

2025

This video demonstrates an in vitro assay utilizing β-glucans to activate microglial cells for the production of superoxide radicals, a reactive oxygen species. In brain cancer cells, the generated reactive oxidants actively suppress tumor cell proliferation and induce cell death.

In Vitro Aggregation Assays Using Hyperphosphorylated Tau Protein

Unmodified and hyperphosphorylated tau proteins were used in two in vitro aggregation assays to reveal the hyperphosphorylation-dependent fast aggregation kinetics. These assays pave the way for future screens for compounds that can modulate the propensity of hyperphosphorylated tau to form fibrils that underlie the progression of Alzheimer’s disease.

Concanavalin A-Based Sedimentation Assay to Measure Substrate Binding of Glucan Phosphatases

Beta

2024

Beta is a crucial metric in finance used to assess an investment's risk and expected return relative to the overall market. It is calculated as the slope of the line in a scatterplot that compares the returns of an individual stock to the returns of the market benchmark, typically represented by a broad market index. Beta quantifies how much a stock's price moves in response to market movements, providing insight into its volatility and systematic risk. A beta of one indicates that the stock's...

Assay for Phosphorylation and Microtubule Binding Along with Localization of Tau Protein in Colorectal Cancer Cells

2017

This manuscript describes standard protocols for measuring tau hyperphosphorylation, measuring tau binding to microtubules, and localization of intracellular tau following drug treatments. These protocols can be used repetitively for screening drugs or other compounds that target tau hyperphosphorylation or microtubule binding.
