Von Willebrand Factor

Von Willebrand factor is a multimeric blood glycoprotein that supports primary hemostasis and stabilizes coagulation factor VIII, making it essential for normal bleeding control. At sites of vascular injury, it binds exposed collagen and captures platelets through platelet glycoprotein Ib, while its circulating form protects factor VIII from degradation. Measuring von Willebrand factor quantity and activity helps diagnose von Willebrand disease and distinguish inherited or acquired bleeding disorders, while studying its structure and regulation clarifies platelet biology, vascular function, and the mechanisms of hemostasis.

The most notable symptom of migraine is severe head pain, and it is hypothesized that this is mediated by sensory neurons innervating the meninges. Here, we present a method to locally apply substances to the dura in a minimally invasive manner while using facial hypersensitivity as an output.
