Immuno-oncology Research

Immuno-oncology research is the study of how the immune system recognizes, attacks, and can be therapeutically directed against cancer cells. It examines mechanisms such as tumor antigen presentation, T-cell activation, immune checkpoints, and the tumor microenvironment, where cancer cells may suppress immune responses or evade detection. This field supports the development and evaluation of treatments including immune checkpoint inhibitors, cancer vaccines, adoptive cell therapies, and combination regimens. By clarifying why some tumors respond while others resist treatment, immuno-oncology research informs biomarker discovery, personalized cancer care, and strategies for achieving more durable clinical responses.
