Assault

Assault is an intentional act or threat of harm against another person, and in clinical settings it refers to an event requiring assessment of physical injury, psychological effects, and immediate safety. Clinical evaluation combines a patient’s account with a trauma-informed history, focused physical examination, injury documentation, and, when appropriate, forensic evidence collection; legal definitions vary by jurisdiction. Assessment may identify wounds, pain, stress responses, or risks that require urgent treatment, safeguarding, referral, or follow-up. Accurate, respectful documentation supports patient care, continuity between healthcare professionals, and collaboration with forensic or legal services while preserving patient autonomy and confidentiality.

2012

Bicelles are lipid/amphiphile mixtures that maintain membrane proteins (MPs) within a lipid bilayer but have unique phase behavior that facilitates high-throughput screening by crystallization robots. This technique has successfully produced a number of high-resolution structures from both prokaryotic and eukaryotic sources. This video describes protocols for generating the lipidic bicelle mixture, incorporating MPs into the bicelle mixture, setting up crystallizations trials (manually as well...

Protocols are presented for two established motor coordination tasks, the accelerating rotarod and horizontal bar, also two tests developed in Oxford recently, the static rods and parallel bars. These tests can detect motor impairments potentially of interest in their own right, as well as being possible variables in tests of other areas of behavior.

Here we describe an optimized and efficient removal strategy for the collection of bio-particles present in ‘touch DNA’ samples, together with an enhanced amplification protocol involving a one-step 5 µl micro-volume lysis/STR amplification, to permit the recovery of short tandem repeat (STR) profiles of the bio-particle donor(s).

The 3-D structure of a molecule provides a unique understanding of how the molecule functions. The principal method for structure determination at near-atomic resolution is X-ray crystallography. Here, we demonstrate the current methods for obtaining three-dimensional crystals of any given macromolecule that are suitable for structure determination by X-ray crystallography.
