Non Invasive Method

Non-invasive methods are clinical approaches that assess, monitor, or influence the body without penetrating the skin, entering a body cavity, or removing tissue, helping reduce discomfort and procedural risk. They work by detecting signals from outside the body, such as reflected sound waves, emitted or transmitted light, electrical activity, or other physical changes, and converting these measurements into clinically useful information. Applications include diagnostic imaging, physiological monitoring, screening, and treatment guidance. By enabling repeated assessment with minimal disruption, non-invasive methods support earlier detection, longitudinal care, and safer clinical decision-making while contributing to advances in patient-centered medicine.

This protocol provides a convenient set of methods, which enables extremely fast, easy, non-invasive, reliable and low-cost, molecular sex determination of birds and their non-invasive, quick, safe and easily recognizable marking shortly after hatching. Only limited handling of chicks is required. This convenient toolbox of methods complies entirely with the RRR-guidelines.

Several methods have been described in the literature for modeling bacterial pneumonia in mice. Herein, we describe a non-invasive, inexpensive, rapid method for inducing pneumonia via aspiration (i.e., inhalation) of a bacterial inoculum pipetted into the oropharynx. Downstream methods for assessment of the pulmonary innate immune response are also detailed.

A Minimally Invasive Method for Generating a Syngeneic Orthotopic Mouse Model of Lung Cancer

A major challenge of developing new therapies for lung cancer includes modeling the tumor microenvironment as regional disease progresses to metastatic disease. Here, we describe a simple method of establishing an orthotopic syngeneic model of lung cancer that allows for in vivo tracking of disease over time.
