S1 S2 Assessment

S1 S2 Assessment is the clinical evaluation of the first and second heart sounds during cardiac auscultation, providing essential information about cardiac valve closure and the timing of the cardiac cycle. S1 results primarily from closure of the mitral and tricuspid valves at the onset of ventricular systole, whereas S2 reflects closure of the aortic and pulmonic valves at the beginning of diastole; changes in intensity, splitting, or timing may indicate altered cardiac function. Clinicians use this assessment alongside pulse findings and other examination data to recognize murmurs, conduction abnormalities, and valvular disease, supporting diagnosis and monitoring at the bedside.

Cell divisions can be visualized in real time using fluorescently tagged proteins and time-lapse microscopy. Using the protocol presented here, users can analyze cell division timing dynamics, mitotic spindle assembly, and chromosome congression and segregation. Defects in these events following RNA interference (RNAi)-mediated gene knockdown can be assessed and quantified.
