Regenerative Medicine

Regenerative medicine is a field that seeks to restore, replace, or regenerate damaged cells, tissues, and organs, offering potential treatments for conditions that do not heal effectively on their own. Drawing on developmental biology, it guides stem and progenitor cells through controlled signaling pathways that regulate cell fate, tissue patterning, and maturation, often with biomaterials or engineered scaffolds that support repair. These approaches include cell-based therapies, tissue engineering, and strategies that stimulate endogenous regeneration. Studying how tissues form and maintain themselves helps researchers improve treatment safety, integration, and function while advancing therapies for injury, degenerative disease, and congenital disorders.
