Rhombomere 5 6

Rhombomeres 5 and 6 are adjacent, transient segments of the embryonic hindbrain that organize neural development and provide positional information for forming cranial structures. Their identities arise through segment-specific gene expression, including the transcription factor Krox20/Egr2, which helps establish rhombomere boundaries and regulate distinct patterns of neuronal differentiation, axon guidance, and neural crest migration. Studying rhombomeres 5 and 6 reveals how early tissue compartments generate organized hindbrain circuits and cranial nerves. These segments therefore serve as an important model for understanding vertebrate brain patterning, congenital craniofacial development, and the molecular mechanisms that coordinate regional cell fate.

5/6 Nephrectomy Using Sharp Bipolectomy Via Midline Laparotomy in Rats

2025

This manuscript introduces a standardized protocol for a 5/6 nephrectomy by sharp bipolectomy via midline laparotomy in a rat model, aiming to induce a state of renal insufficiency via renal parenchyma reduction with a great degree of methodical precision and low risk of technical error.

A Mouse 5/6th Nephrectomy Model That Induces Experimental Uremic Cardiomyopathy

This manuscript provides a detailed two-step surgical procedure to perform mouse 5/6th partial nephrectomy (PNx) with pole ligation. Four weeks after surgery, in comparison with sham-operated mice, the PNx mice developed impaired renal function, anemia, cardiac hypertrophy, cardiac fibrosis, and decreased heart systolic and diastolic function.

5-Number Summary

2023

In a dataset, the 5-number summary includes the minimum data value, the data value of the first quartile, the median data value or data value of the second quartile, the data value of the third quartile, and the maximum data value. These 5 data values can be visualized as a box and whisker plot. In a box plot, the minimum and maximum data values represent the lower and upper whiskers in the graph, and the median is designated as the center of the box in the chart. The first quartile and third...
