Usutu Virus Sequencing

Usutu virus sequencing is the analysis of viral genetic material to determine the nucleotide sequence of Usutu virus genomes, supporting genetic characterization and surveillance. Because Usutu virus has an RNA genome, laboratory workflows typically convert viral RNA to complementary DNA, amplify selected or genome-wide regions, and read the resulting DNA fragments before assembling and comparing sequences. These data can identify genetic variation, distinguish closely related viral lineages, and clarify relationships among samples. In genetics and infectious-disease research, sequencing helps track viral distribution, investigate transmission patterns, monitor evolutionary change, and support studies of host or geographic associations.
