Parasite Egg Detection

Parasite egg detection is the identification of helminth eggs in clinical or environmental samples, providing direct evidence of parasitic infection. In stool examination, technicians concentrate eggs through sedimentation or flotation, then use light microscopy to assess their size, shape, shell features, and internal contents; staining or repeated sampling may improve recognition when egg numbers are low. This approach supports the diagnosis of intestinal infections and helps distinguish parasite species with different transmission and treatment requirements. In immunology and infection research, egg detection also contributes to surveillance, estimates of infection burden, evaluation of control programs, and investigation of host responses to helminth exposure.

Detection of Extravascular Trypanosoma Parasites by Fine Needle Aspiration

2019

Fine Needle Aspiration is a technique, whereby cells are obtained from a lesion or organ using a thin needle. Aspirated material is smeared, stained and examined under a microscope for diagnosis or used for molecular biology, cytometry or in vitro analysis. It is cheap, simple, quick and causes minimal trauma.
