Single Cell Technologies

Single Cell Technologies are a group of methods that measure genetic, molecular, or functional features in individual cells, revealing differences that bulk analyses can conceal. These approaches typically isolate or partition single cells, attach cell-specific molecular barcodes, and analyze RNA, proteins, or immune receptor sequences to link measurements to their cellular source. In immunology and infection research, single-cell profiles can distinguish immune-cell states, trace pathogen-associated responses, identify rare infected or activated cells, and clarify interactions within tissues. The resulting data improve understanding of host defense, disease progression, and treatment responses while supporting more precise models of immune heterogeneity.
