Function Evaluation

Function evaluation is the process of determining the output of a function for a specified input, making it a fundamental operation in mathematics and quantitative reasoning. To evaluate a function, substitute the given value for the independent variable in the function’s rule, then simplify the resulting expression while respecting operations, parentheses, exponents, and any domain restrictions. This method applies to numerical, algebraic, graphical, and piecewise functions, helping students interpret relationships between variables, calculate values from models, and verify solutions. Function evaluation also supports later work with composition, inverse functions, equations, and mathematical models in science, engineering, economics, and data analysis.

The zebrafish is a popular tool to model chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, their small size makes it impossible to evaluate renal function using traditional methods. We describe a fluorescent dye kidney clearance assay1 that allows quantitative analysis of zebrafish kidney function in CKD.

The functional core stability of the foot contributes to the human static posture and dynamic activities. This paper proposes a comprehensive evaluation for the function of the foot core system, which combines three subsystems. It may provide increased awareness and multifaceted protocol to explore the foot function among different populations.

Transplantation of Olfactory Ensheathing Cells to Evaluate Functional Recovery after Peripheral Nerve Injury

Olfactory ensheathing cells (OECs) are neural crest cells which allow growth of the primary olfactory neurons. This specific property can be used for cellular transplantation. We present here a model of cellular transplantation based on the use of OECs in a laryngeal nerve injury model.
