Regrouping Numbers

Regrouping numbers is a place-value strategy used to rename quantities without changing their value, making addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division easier to perform. In the base-ten system, ten units can be exchanged for one ten, while one ten can be decomposed into ten units; the same principle applies across hundreds, thousands, and other place values. This process helps students align digits, manage carrying and borrowing, and understand how numerical notation represents quantity. Accurate regrouping supports efficient written and mental calculation and provides a foundation for algorithms involving whole numbers and decimals.

2026

This article describes: (1) oral gavage delivery of test molecules to neonatal mice as early as DOL 6; and (2) ex vivo evaluation of colonic epithelial barrier function in biopsies from DOL 10 to weaning (DOL 20) pups by assessing paracellular and transcellular permeability with Ussing chambers.

This protocol provides a systematic framework to assess how phytochemicals can enhance the bactericidal effects of traditional biocides using bactericidal activity modeling and combinatorial interaction assays , which aim to identify synergistic mixtures that improve microbial control and reduce overall biocide usage.

Touchscreen Sustained Attention Task (SAT) for Rats

Sustained attention, or continuously monitoring situations for intermittent and unpredictable events, is a critical aspect of cognition. Here we detail how to test sustained attention in rats using touchscreen operant chambers. We demonstrate comparable performance in male and female rats, making this task useful for studying attention in both sexes.
