Data Audit Protocol

A Data Audit Protocol is a structured framework for examining the quality, integrity, provenance, and governance of data, helping organizations determine whether information is reliable and fit for use. In medicine, auditors define review criteria, trace data from collection through storage and analysis, and test records for completeness, accuracy, consistency, duplication, security, and compliance with established requirements. These audits support trustworthy clinical research, electronic health record management, public health surveillance, and healthcare decision-making by revealing gaps that may distort findings or compromise patient privacy. Regular, documented audits also strengthen data stewardship and provide a basis for corrective actions, process improvement, and reproducible analyses.

Data Interpretation

2026

Research papers often present findings in the form of numerical tables, statistical outputs, and graphical representations. However, numerical results alone do not convey meaning unless researchers examine and place them in context. Data interpretation is the systematic process through which researchers transform raw information into clear, meaningful insights. It begins only after researchers have collected data through experiments, surveys, or observational studies. In their unprocessed form,...

How Data are Classified: Numerical Data

2023

Data that are countable or measurable in specific units are called numerical or quantitative data. Quantitative data are always numbers. Quantitative data are the result of counting or measuring the attributes of a population. Amount of money, pulse rate, weight, number of people living in a town, and number of students who opt for statistics are examples of quantitative data. Quantitative data may be either discrete or continuous. All quantitative data that take on only specific numerical...
