Living Image Software

Living Image Software is an image-acquisition and analysis platform for processing optical imaging data, particularly bioluminescence and fluorescence measurements in preclinical medicine. It works by capturing emitted light from labeled cells, organisms, or tissues, then using calibrated images, regions of interest, background correction, and signal quantification to measure changes over time. Researchers use the software to track disease progression, monitor gene expression, evaluate drug or cell-based therapies, and compare treatment responses in living animal models. By converting optical signals into spatial and quantitative data, Living Image Software supports noninvasive longitudinal studies and helps reduce the need for repeated tissue collection.

Live Cell Imaging of Mitosis

2023

Mitosis is a form of cell division in which a cell’s genetic material is divided equally between two daughter cells. Mitosis can be broken down into six phases, during each of which the cell’s components, such as its chromosomes, show visually distinct characteristics. Advances in fluorescence live cell imaging have allowed scientists to study this process in great detail, providing important insights into the biological control of this process and how it might go wrong in diseases such as...

Here, we present a protocol for live imaging of mouse secondary palate fusion using confocal microscopy. This protocol can be used in combination with a variety of fluorescent reporter mouse lines, and with pathway inhibitors for mechanistic insight. This protocol can be adapted for live imaging in other developmental systems.
