Mobility Preservation

Mobility preservation is a medical approach focused on maintaining a person’s ability to move safely and independently while limiting functional decline caused by injury, disease, aging, or treatment. It combines assessment of movement, strength, balance, joint function, and pain with targeted measures such as therapeutic exercise, early mobilization, rehabilitation, assistive devices, and interventions that protect muscles, bones, joints, and the nervous system. In clinical practice, mobility preservation can reduce disability, support recovery after illness or surgery, and improve quality of life. It also guides preventive care and personalized treatment planning across rehabilitation, geriatrics, orthopedics, neurology, and chronic disease management.

Innovative Strategies for Organ Preservation in Heart Transplantation: Uniform Cooling Preservation and Ex-situ Normothermic Perfusion

2025

Donor heart preservation is a major determinant of success in heart transplantation. Technological advances have led to optimizing the conditions of preservation, along with a more accurate assessment of the donor heart before transplantation. We herein describe two innovative technologies currently applied for cardiac preservation: uniform cooling preservation and normothermic ex-situ heart perfusion.

Electrophoretic Mobility Shift Assay (EMSA)

2023

The electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA) is a biochemical procedure used to elucidate binding between proteins and nucleic acids. In this assay a radiolabeled nucleic acid and test protein are mixed. Binding is determined via gel electrophoresis which separates components based on mass, charge, and conformation. This video shows the concepts of EMSA and a general procedure, including gel and protein preparation, binding, electrophoresis, and detection. Applications covered in this video...

2024

As consumers increasingly rely on smartphones and other mobile devices for browsing, communication, and shopping, mobile marketing has become essential in today's digital world. Brands must adjust their strategies to engage users where they spend most of their time, which is on mobile screens. Understanding mobile user behavior is crucial for successful mobile marketing. Mobile users typically interact with their devices briefly and frequently throughout the day. They prefer content that is...

Using a Cyclic Ion Mobility Spectrometer for Tandem Ion Mobility Experiments

2022

Ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) is an interesting complement to mass spectrometry for the characterization of biomolecules, notably because it is sensitive to isomerism. This protocol describes a tandem IMS (IMS/IMS) experiment, which allows the isolation of a molecule and the generation of the mobility profiles of its fragments.
