Preoperative Bronchoscopy

Preoperative bronchoscopy is an endoscopic procedure used to examine the trachea and bronchi before surgery, helping clinicians assess airway anatomy and identify findings that may affect operative planning. A flexible or rigid bronchoscope passes through the nose, mouth, or an artificial airway while a camera provides direct visualization; the operator can also suction secretions and collect tissue or fluid samples when indicated. In medicine, preoperative bronchoscopy supports evaluation of suspected airway obstruction, tumors, infection, or bleeding and can help determine surgical approach, anticipate airway-management challenges, and improve procedural safety.

2020

In pandemic times, medical staff is becoming a key resource in fighting the infection. To achieve the best medical care, relevant techniques and procedures have to be taught to medical staff while reducing the risk of infection. COVID patients often suffer from respiratory insufficiency and increased intrapulmonal secretion. A bronchoscopy is one of the standard procedures for resolving respiratory tract obstruction in intensive care medicine. On the downside, this procedure has a high...

Piaget’s preoperational stage, from about ages 2 to 7, is characterized by rapid growth in symbolic thinking. Children increasingly use words, images, and objects to represent ideas, although their reasoning remains largely intuitive. During this period, number sense develops from memorized counting toward an understanding of quantity and basic arithmetic.Counting and CardinalityChildren younger than age 3 may recite number words without fully understanding their numerical meaning. During the...

Endoscopy is a non-surgical medical technique used to examine a person's internal organs and vessels. This lesson will focus on two types of endoscopic studies: bronchoscopy and thoracoscopy. Bronchoscopy Description Bronchoscopy is a procedure that involves direct visualization of the larynx, trachea, and bronchi for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. A flexible fiber optic or rigid bronchoscope is used to carry out the procedure. The fiber-optic bronchoscope is more frequently used due to...

Preoperational Thought I: The Symbolic Function

Jean Piaget’s preoperational stage of cognitive development spans approximately ages 2 to 7. During this period, children increasingly think symbolically but are not yet able to perform logical mental operations consistently. Symbols are words, pictures, numbers, or objects that stand for something else. For example, the word "dog" can represent an entire category of animals, even when no dog is physically present. This ability allows children to mentally represent people, objects, and events...
