Real-time Qpcr

Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (real-time qPCR) is a molecular technique that amplifies and measures specific DNA sequences as the reaction proceeds, enabling rapid and sensitive analysis of genetic material in medicine. During repeated cycles of denaturation, primer annealing, and extension, fluorescent dyes or sequence-specific probes generate signals proportional to the amount of amplified product, allowing researchers to calculate starting template quantities through threshold-cycle values. Real-time qPCR supports pathogen detection, gene-expression analysis, mutation identification, and treatment monitoring, providing quantitative results that can inform diagnosis, research, and personalized medical care.

2012

Quantitative Real Time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) is a rapid and sensitive method to investigate the expression levels of various microRNA (miRNA) molecules in tumor samples. Using this method expression of hundreds of different miRNA molecules can be amplified, quantified, and analyzed from the same cDNA template.

Source: Suzuki, Y., et al. Measuring Dengue Virus RNA in the Culture Supernatant of Infected Cells by Real-time Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction. J. Vis. Exp. (2018).This video demonstrates the procedure for preparing viral samples for quantitative PCR (Polymerase chain reaction) analysis. Viral samples and RNA standards are serially diluted, treated with a proteinase K buffer, and incubated under controlled temperatures to release RNA. The processed RNA is then stabilized and stored for...

Source: Laboratories of Dr. Ian Pepper and Dr. Charles Gerba - The University of Arizona Demonstrating Author: Bradley Schmitz Quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR), also known as real-time PCR, is a widely-used molecular technique for enumerating microorganisms in the environment. Prior to this approach, quantifying microorganisms was limited largely to classical culture-based techniques. However, the culturing of microbes from environmental samples can be particularly challenging, and...
