Stromal Swelling Reduction

Stromal swelling reduction is the controlled decrease of excess fluid within the stroma, the connective-tissue framework that supports organs and tissues, helping restore normal thickness and function. It occurs when fluid movement out of the extracellular matrix exceeds fluid entry, through mechanisms such as osmotic gradients, cellular ion transport, and drainage through local vascular or lymphatic pathways. In medicine, evaluating or promoting stromal swelling reduction helps characterize tissue edema, monitor healing, and assess responses to treatment or transplantation. Understanding these changes also supports interpretation of imaging and the development of therapies that preserve tissue structure and function.

Oxidation-Reduction Reactions

Oxidation–Reduction Reactions Earth’s atmosphere contains about 20% molecular oxygen, O2, a chemically reactive gas that plays an essential role in the metabolism of aerobic organisms and in many environmental processes that shape the world. The term oxidation was originally used to describe chemical reactions involving O2, but its meaning has evolved to refer to a broad and important reaction class known as oxidation–reduction (redox) reactions. Some redox reactions involve the transfer of...

This protocol describes an assay for measuring CFTR function and CFTR modulator responses in cultured tissue from subjects with cystic fibrosis (CF). Biopsy-derived intestinal organoids swell in a cAMP-driven fashion, a response that is defective (or strongly reduced) in CF organoids and can be restored by exposure to CFTR modulators.

The purpose of the study is to illustrate the technical procedure of stromal vascular fraction (SVF)-enriched fat grafting as a novel treatment of symptomatic end-neuromata. This technique provides advantages of both the mechanical barrier and the biological action at the cellular level by the processed and concentrated SVF.
