Ultrasound Pressure Sensor

An ultrasound pressure sensor is a device that measures the acoustic pressure produced by ultrasound waves, providing quantitative information about the intensity and distribution of sound in medical systems. Typically, a piezoelectric sensing element converts pressure-induced mechanical vibrations into an electrical signal, which is calibrated to represent changes in acoustic pressure over relevant frequencies. In medicine, these sensors help characterize diagnostic transducers, verify imaging performance, and monitor output levels during therapeutic ultrasound. Their measurements support equipment calibration, quality assurance, exposure assessment, and the development of safer, more reliable ultrasound technologies for imaging and treatment.

2024

To obtain accurate blood pressure measurements in clinical settings, especially when traditional methods are insufficient, healthcare professionals utilize the Doppler ultrasound technique. This method uses high-frequency sound waves to detect blood flow within the arteries, which is crucial for patients with conditions that complicate circulatory system assessment. Pre-Procedural Guidelines for Doppler Ultrasound Blood Pressure Assessment: Preparation of Equipment: • Assemble the necessary...

The laser heated diamond anvil cell combined with synchrotron micro-diffraction techniques allows researchers to explore the nature and properties of new phases of matter at extreme pressure and temperature (PT) conditions. Heterogeneous samples can be characterized in situ under high pressure by 2D mapping and combined powder, single-crystal and multigrain diffraction approaches.

Glovebox and Impurity Sensors

Source: Tamara M. Powers, Department of Chemistry, Texas A&M University The glovebox provides a straightforward means to handle air- and moisture-sensitive solids and liquids. The glovebox is what it sounds like: a box with gloves attached to one or more sides, which allows the user to perform manipulations within the glovebox under an inert atmosphere. For manipulations under inert atmospheres, chemists can choose between Schlenk or high-vacuum techniques and a glovebox. Schlenk and...

Ultrasound Cyclo Plasty in Eyes with Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a chronic disease with progressive degeneration of optic nerve fibers resulting in decreased visual field. Elevated intraocular pressure is considered the most important and the only treatable risk factor. This manuscript describes a simple, surgeon-friendly, non-incisional technique, named Ultrasound Cyclo Plasty, for reducing intraocular pressure in glaucoma patients.

Epidural Intracranial Pressure Measurement in Rats Using a Fiber-optic Pressure Transducer

A novel technique to record the pressures within the skull is described. The minimally invasive method uses a fibre-optic pressure sensing system to accurately measure intracranial pressure (ICP) in anaesthetized rats without causing significant brain trauma. The technique may be used in a wide range of experimental models.
