Stimulus Induced Responses

Stimulus-induced responses are measurable changes in neural activity, physiology, or behavior that occur when an organism or nervous system encounters an internal or external stimulus. In neuroscience, sensory receptors and neural circuits transform stimulus energy into electrical signals, which propagate through synaptic networks and produce responses that can be recorded with electrophysiology, imaging, or behavioral assays. Analyzing response timing, strength, and selectivity helps researchers determine how neural systems encode information, adapt to changing conditions, and coordinate behavior. These responses provide essential evidence for studying sensory processing, perception, learning, neurological disorders, and the effects of targeted interventions.

Inducing Axonal Varicosities with a Micromechanical Stimulus on Neurons

2025

This video demonstrates the induction of axonal varicosities by applying micromechanical stimulus on neurons. The system comprises a micropipette attached to a syringe containing buffer via tubing. Using a micromanipulator, the micropipette is positioned above the neurons. Fluid pressure is then applied to induce varicosities in axons.

Zebrafish Avoidance and Thigmotaxis Assay: A High-Throughput Method to Examine Larval Behavior in Response to Aversive Visual Stimulus

There is accumulating evidence, that ischemic preconditioning (PC) – a non-damaging ischemic challenge to the brain - confers a transient protection to a subsequent damaging ischemic insult. We established bilateral common carotid artery occlusion (BCCAO) as a preconditioning stimulus to induce early ischemic tolerance (IT) to transient focal cerebral ischemia (induced by middle cerebral artery occlusion, MCAO) in C57Bl6/J mice.

How Virtual Celebrity Characteristics Drive Purchase Intention: Testing the Stimulus-Organism-Response Framework with Structural Equation Modeling

In the context of the virtual celebrity experience, content quality most strongly drives satisfaction; satisfaction, in turn, increases purchase intention indirectly via loyalty. Personalization strengthens the satisfaction-loyalty link, so firms should prioritize emotion-evoking, narrative-consistent virtual celebrity content and personalized loyalty programs.

Odorant-induced Responses Recorded from Olfactory Receptor Neurons using the Suction Pipette Technique

Olfactory receptor neurons (ORNs) convert odor signals first into a receptor current that in turn triggers action potentials that are conveyed to second order neurons in the olfactory bulb. Here we describe the suction pipette technique to record simultaneously the odorant-induced receptor current and action potentials from mouse ORNs.
