Vascular Imaging

Vascular imaging is the visualization and measurement of blood vessels, blood flow, and vascular structure, providing essential information about circulation in the brain and body. In neuroscience, techniques such as magnetic resonance angiography, computed tomography angiography, and Doppler ultrasound use differences in blood movement, tissue properties, or injected contrast agents to map vessels and detect changes in perfusion. These methods help researchers and clinicians investigate stroke, aneurysms, vascular malformations, and the relationship between neural activity and cerebral blood flow. Vascular imaging also supports studies of neurovascular coupling, disease progression, and treatment response while enabling increasingly precise, noninvasive assessment of brain health.

Changes in ovarian blood flow during the preovulatory period are essential for ovulation. Doppler ultrasonography has been used in humans and large animals to assess ovarian hemodynamics and perfusion. A protocol is presented for applying Doppler ultrasonography to evaluate ovarian hemodynamics during the preovulatory and periovulatory phases in mice.

DefinitionRenal angiography, also known as renal arteriography, is an imaging technique used to obtain a comprehensive view of blood flow and the vascular structure of blood vessels in the kidneys and surrounding areas.PurposeRenal angiography detects blood vessel abnormalities in the kidneys, such as aneurysms, stenosis, thrombosis, vascular tumors, and renal artery stenosis. It evaluates kidney function and guides interventional treatments like angioplasty or stent placement.Pre-Procedure...

Tools used for visualizing vascular regeneration require methods for contrasting the vascular trees. This film demonstrated a delicate injection technique used to achieve optimal contrasting of the vascular trees and illustrate the potential benefits resulting from a detailed analysis of the resulting specimen using µCT and histological serial sections.
