Behavior Study

Behavior study is the systematic investigation of how organisms act and respond to internal or external conditions, providing evidence about psychological processes and individual or group differences. In psychology, researchers operationalize behaviors into observable measures, record responses through observation, surveys, or experiments, and examine how changes in an independent variable influence a measured outcome while controlling relevant conditions. These studies help explain learning, decision-making, social interaction, emotion, and motivation. Their findings support theory development, clinical assessment, educational strategies, and interventions, while careful measurement and experimental design improve the reliability and scientific relevance of conclusions about behavior.

2015

Rodents are an appropriate model to investigate the molecular substrates of behavior and complex psychiatric disorders. Brain microinjection in awake rodents can be used to elucidate disease substrates. An efficient and customizable brain microinjection method as well as the execution of an operant paradigm that quantifies motivation is presented.

We describe a method to record motor activity, timed to the electrically recorded tarsal contact signal in a tethered insect, walking on a slippery surface. This is used to study the neural basis of adaptive behavior under reduced influence of mechanical interaction between legs through the substrate.
