Live Model

A live model is a real person who demonstrates a behavior for another individual to observe and potentially imitate, making the concept important in psychology and behavioral learning. During live modeling, the observer attends to the model’s actions, encodes the demonstrated behavior, and may reproduce it when motivation, ability, and suitable conditions support performance. Researchers and practitioners use live models to study observational learning, social influence, skill acquisition, and behavior change. Applications include classroom instruction, clinical interventions, social-skills training, and laboratory studies of how reinforcement, attention, and perceived similarity affect imitation.

Intradermal Immunization with Live Attenuated Sporozoites in a Mouse Model

2025

This video demonstrates an assay for immunizing a mouse model with live attenuated sporozoites. The radiation-attenuated Plasmodium sporozoites are injected into the dorsal side of the mouse's ear. After injections at multiple locations on both ears, the mouse is allowed to recover.

Co-culture Models of Pseudomonas aeruginosa Biofilms Grown on Live Human Airway Cells

This paper describes different methods of growing Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilms on cultured human airway epithelial cells. These protocols can be adapted to study different aspects of biofilm formation, including visualization of the biofilm, staining of the biofilm, measuring the colony forming units (CFU) of the biofilm, and studying biofilm cytotoxicity.

Here, we present a protocol for live imaging of mouse secondary palate fusion using confocal microscopy. This protocol can be used in combination with a variety of fluorescent reporter mouse lines, and with pathway inhibitors for mechanistic insight. This protocol can be adapted for live imaging in other developmental systems.

MAME Models for 4D Live-cell Imaging of Tumor: Microenvironment Interactions that Impact Malignant Progression

We have developed 3D coculture models for live-cell imaging in real-time of interactions among breast tumor cells and other cells in their microenvironment that impact progression to an invasive phenotype. These models can serve as preclinical screens for drugs to target paracrine-induced proteolytic, chemokine/cytokine and kinase pathways implicated in invasiveness.

In Vitro Ovule Cultivation for Live-cell Imaging of Zygote Polarization and Embryo Patterning in Arabidopsis thaliana
