Stress Reduction Methods

Stress reduction methods are behavioral, psychological, and mind-body approaches designed to lessen perceived stress and its physical and emotional effects. They may work through controlled breathing, mindfulness, progressive muscle relaxation, physical activity, or cognitive and social support, helping regulate autonomic arousal and improve emotional control. In cancer research, these methods are studied as supportive interventions that may reduce anxiety, fatigue, sleep disturbance, and treatment-related distress rather than replace medical care. Researchers assess their effectiveness using patient-reported outcomes, physiological measures, and quality-of-life evaluations across diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship.

We present a method to control the interfacial energy of a liquid metal in an electrolyte via electrochemical deposition (or removal) of a surface oxide layer. This simple method can control the capillary behavior of gallium-based liquid metals by tuning the interfacial energy rapidly, significantly, and reversibly using modest voltages.

Stress Granules (SGs) are nonmembranous cytoplasmic structures that form in cells exposed to a variety of stresses. SGs contain mRNAs, RNA-binding proteins, small ribosomal subunits, translation-related factors, and various cell signaling proteins. This protocol describes a workflow that uses several experimental approaches to detect, characterize, and quantify bona fide SGs.

Oxidation-Reduction Reactions

2020

Oxidation–Reduction Reactions Earth’s atmosphere contains about 20% molecular oxygen, O2, a chemically reactive gas that plays an essential role in the metabolism of aerobic organisms and in many environmental processes that shape the world. The term oxidation was originally used to describe chemical reactions involving O2, but its meaning has evolved to refer to a broad and important reaction class known as oxidation–reduction (redox) reactions. Some redox reactions involve the transfer of...
