Ethyl Cyanoacrylate

Ethyl cyanoacrylate is a fast-curing cyanoacrylate ester used as a reactive adhesive and as a model monomer for studying rapid polymer formation in chemistry. Trace water or other nucleophiles initiates anionic polymerization by attacking the electron-deficient carbon–carbon double bond, producing poly(ethyl 2-cyanoacrylate) chains without requiring added heat or a conventional catalyst. This high reactivity supports instant bonding of nonporous materials and applications in laboratory demonstrations, industrial assembly, and some biomedical formulations, while also making moisture control, storage stability, and exposure management important considerations in handling and formulation.

A Protocol for the Production of Gliadin-cyanoacrylate Nanoparticles for Hydrophilic Coating

2016

This article presents a protocol for the production of protein-based nanoparticles that changes the hydrophobic surface to hydrophilic. The produced nanoparticle is an assembly of gliadin-cyanoacrylate diblock copolymers. Spray coating with the produced nanoparticle changes the surface of target material to a hydrophilic surface.
