Q Value

Q value is a statistical measure that estimates the minimum false discovery rate (FDR) at which a test result can be considered significant, helping researchers interpret findings from multiple hypothesis tests. Unlike a traditional p value, which evaluates one result under a null hypothesis, the q value accounts for the proportion of false positives expected among all results ranked at or above a given significance level. In clinical research, q values support analysis of genomic, biomarker, and high-throughput data where thousands of associations may be tested simultaneously. They help balance the detection of meaningful signals with control of misleading discoveries.

TALEN-mediated gene editing at the safe harbor AAVS1 locus enables high-efficiency transgene addition in human iPSCs. This protocol describes the procedures for preparing iPSCs for TALEN and donor vector delivery, transfecting iPSCs, and selecting and isolating iPSC clones to achieve targeted integration of a GFP gene to generate reporter lines.

Immunohistochemistry staining and 16S ribosomal RNA gene (16S rRNA gene) sequencing were performed in order to discover and distinguish bacteria in cancerous and noncancerous ovarian tissues in situ. The compositional and functional differences of the bacteria were predicted by using BugBase and Phylogenetic Investigation of Communities by Reconstruction of Unobserved States (PICRUSt).
