Therapeutic Efficacy Evaluation

Therapeutic efficacy evaluation is the systematic assessment of how well a medical intervention produces its intended health benefit, an essential step in clinical research and evidence-based care. It compares outcomes before and after treatment, or between treated and control groups, using predefined clinical endpoints such as symptom improvement, disease control, survival, or functional recovery. Researchers analyze these results alongside safety findings, patient characteristics, and statistical uncertainty to determine whether observed benefits are meaningful and reproducible. This evaluation guides clinical decision-making, supports regulatory review, informs treatment development, and helps identify which patients are most likely to benefit from an intervention.

Evaluation of 3D Spheroids for AAV Transduction Studies

2026

Three-dimensional spheroid culture systems improve upon conventional 2D models for AAV gene therapy development. This methodology enables sensitive detection of AAV transduction at low doses, enhanced physiological relevance, and robust long-term monitoring. The platform supports potency assessment, high-throughput screening, and vector optimization across diverse cell lines and AAV serotypes.

This protocol demonstrates how the Src homology 2 domain-containing 5'-inositol phosphatase (SHIP)-deficient mouse model of Crohn disease (CD)-like ileal inflammation and fibrosis can be used to test novel therapeutics for CD.

An Assay to Evaluate Drug Efficacy against a Mycobacterium tuberculosis Infection Model

2025

This video demonstrates an assay to evaluate the efficacy of drugs against Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) infection. An in vitro infection model containing Mtb/macrophage aggregates is generated that mimics in vivo infection. Upon introducing suitable antibiotics, their efficacy is tested via resuzarin assay to monitor the survival of bacteria with increasing drug concentrations.
