Chorionic Villi Isolation

Chorionic villi isolation is a laboratory process for separating fetal-derived chorionic villus tissue from placental samples, enabling analysis of early development and genetic status. Researchers typically identify and dissect villous regions, remove maternal tissue, and use washing with mechanical and enzymatic dissociation to release trophoblast and mesenchymal cells for downstream culture or molecular and cytogenetic testing. In developmental biology, this approach supports investigation of placental formation, fetal-maternal interactions, and chromosomal or inherited abnormalities while providing material for studying how early embryonic tissues develop.
