Inexperienced Wearers

Inexperienced wearers are individuals who have limited prior exposure to a wearable device, garment, or protective item, making their behavior important for evaluating usability, safety, and adaptation. Because unfamiliar equipment can increase cognitive load, reduce confidence, and alter movement or compliance, researchers assess how users learn to put on, adjust, and use it under controlled conditions. Studying inexperienced wearers helps identify design barriers, training needs, and early-use errors before they affect performance or safety. Findings can inform user-centered design, instructional materials, and interventions that support effective adoption across clinical, occupational, and everyday settings.

This study investigated lower-limb kinematics and ground reaction force (GRF) during moderate high-heeled jogging and running. Subjects were divided into groups of experienced wearers and inexperienced wearers. A three-dimensional motion analysis system with a configured force platform captured lower-limb joint movements and GRF.
