Cell Type Specific Rna

Cell type-specific RNA refers to RNA molecules whose expression, processing, or localization is enriched in particular cell types, helping define cellular identity and function. These patterns arise through cell-specific transcriptional programs, alternative RNA splicing, selective RNA stability, and regulatory mechanisms that control when and where transcripts are produced. Researchers analyze cell type-specific RNA with techniques such as single-cell RNA sequencing, in situ hybridization, and targeted expression assays to distinguish cell populations and characterize their states. This information supports studies of development, tissue organization, disease mechanisms, and biomarkers, while enabling more precise investigation of cellular responses and potential RNA-based therapeutic strategies.

Types of RNA

2019

Overview Three main types of RNA are involved in protein synthesis: messenger RNA (mRNA), transfer RNA (tRNA), and ribosomal RNA (rRNA). These RNAs perform diverse functions and can be broadly classified as protein-coding or non-coding RNA. Non-coding RNAs play important roles in the regulation of gene expression in response to developmental and environmental changes. Non-coding RNAs in prokaryotes can be manipulated to develop more effective antibacterial drugs for human or animal use. RNA...

Several 2’-Fluoro RNA aptamers against HIV-1Ba-L gp120 with nanomole affinity are isolated from a RNA library by in vitro SELEX procedure. A new dual inhibitory function anti-gp120 aptamer-siRNA chimera is created and shows considerable promise for systemic anti-HIV therapy.

Heterokaryon Technique for Analysis of Cell Type-specific Localization

Cited by 1 •

2011

A flexible and efficient method for the characterization of cell type-specific protein localization and nucleocytoplasmic shuttling is described. This heterokaryon approach uses fluorescently-labeled fusion proteins to image protein localizations after cell fusion. The protocol is amenable to steady-state localizations or more dynamic determinations based on live cell imaging.
