Cyclic Di-gmp

Cyclic di-GMP is a bacterial second messenger that coordinates cell behaviors such as motility, surface attachment, biofilm formation, and virulence, making it important for understanding microbial adaptation. Diguanylate cyclases containing GGDEF domains synthesize cyclic di-GMP from two GTP molecules, while phosphodiesterases with EAL or HD-GYP domains break it down, allowing cells to adjust signal levels in response to environmental conditions. By controlling effector proteins and regulatory pathways, cyclic di-GMP helps bacteria switch between free-living and surface-associated states. Its signaling network provides a framework for studying infection, biofilm development, antimicrobial tolerance, and potential strategies for disrupting pathogenic bacteria.

(2016).This video demonstrates the screening of cyclic di-GMP modulators using genetically modified bacteria that express green fluorescent protein (GFP) under the control of a c-di-GMP-sensitive promoter. Fluorescence is measured in a multi-well plate containing different test compounds. Compounds that inhibit c-di-GMP...

Cyclic Voltammetry (CV)

2023

Source: Laboratory of Dr. Kayla Green — Texas Christian University A Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) experiment involves the scan of a range of potential voltages while measuring current. In the CV experiment, the potential of an immersed, stationary electrode is scanned from a predetermined starting potential to a final value (called the switching potential) and then the reverse scan is obtained. This gives a 'cyclic' sweep of potentials and the current vs. potential curve derived from the data is...
