In-the-field Application

In-the-field application in biology refers to using biological methods, observations, and measurements directly in natural, agricultural, clinical, or community settings rather than relying solely on controlled laboratory conditions. Researchers typically combine standardized sampling, in situ observation, environmental measurements, and portable assays to assess organisms and biological processes under real-world conditions. These approaches can reveal how temperature, nutrients, pathogens, habitat, or human activity influence living systems while preserving essential environmental context. Field applications support biodiversity surveys, disease surveillance, conservation planning, ecological monitoring, and evidence-based management, linking experimental biology with decisions that affect ecosystems, public health, and sustainable resource use.

The Global Positioning System (GPS) has become an indispensable tool in fieldwork, offering unparalleled precision and efficiency for surveying, navigation, and infrastructure development. By harnessing signals from a constellation of satellites, GPS receivers determine the location of objects with remarkable speed and accuracy, often completing calculations within a second.Advantages of Modern GPS TechnologyContemporary GPS receivers are designed to meet the practical demands of field...

Induced Electric Fields: Applications

2025

An important distinction exists between the electric field induced by a changing magnetic field and the electrostatic field produced by a fixed charge distribution. Specifically, the induced electric field is nonconservative because it does not work in moving a charge over a closed path. In contrast, the electrostatic field is conservative and does no net work over a closed path. Hence, electric potential can be associated with the electrostatic field but not the induced field. The following...

Glioblastoma is the most common and aggressive primary brain malignancy in adults, with most tumors recurring after initial treatment. Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) therapy is the newest treatment modality for glioblastoma. Here, we describe the proper application of TTFields-transducer arrays on patients and discuss theory and aspects of treatment.
