Experimental Verification

Experimental verification is the systematic use of laboratory evidence to test whether a chemical observation, measurement, or proposed explanation is reliable. In chemistry, researchers design controlled experiments, define measurable outcomes, compare results with predictions or reference data, and repeat procedures to assess consistency while accounting for uncertainty and possible sources of error. This process can confirm reaction behavior, validate analytical methods, evaluate models, and distinguish genuine effects from artifacts. Experimental verification strengthens the credibility and reproducibility of chemical research, supports confident interpretation of results, and provides a foundation for developing new materials, processes, and applications.

Self-Evaluation: Self-Enhancement and Self-Verification

2020

Social psychologists have documented that feeling good about ourselves and maintaining positive self-esteem is a powerful motivator of human behavior (Tavris & Aronson, 2008). In the United States, members of the predominant culture typically think very highly of themselves and view themselves as good people who are above average on many desirable traits (Ehrlinger, Gilovich, & Ross, 2005). Often, our behavior, attitudes, and beliefs are affected when we experience a threat to our...

Strategies of Self-Presentation II: Self-Verification

2025

Self-verification is a fundamental psychological drive wherein individuals seek affirmation of their self-concept from others, striving for consistency between their internal self-view and external perceptions. This drive operates even when the self-concept is negative, influencing interpersonal behavior and feedback preferences in complex and often counterintuitive ways. Unlike the self-enhancement motive, which seeks positive evaluations, self-verification prioritizes coherence and...

This manuscript describes the operational procedures and precautions to probe the potential common pathogenic mechanisms linking primary Sjogren's syndrome and lung adenocarcinoma through bioinformatics analysis and experimental verification.

Theoretical Calculation and Experimental Verification for Dislocation Reduction in Germanium Epitaxial Layers with Semicylindrical Voids on Silicon

2020

Theoretical calculation and experimental verification are proposed for a reduction of threading dislocation (TD) density in germanium epitaxial layers with semicylindrical voids on silicon. Calculations based on the interaction of TDs and surface via image force, TD measurements, and transmission electron microscope observations of TDs are presented.
