Syringe Pump Etching

Syringe pump etching is a controlled material-removal process that uses a syringe pump to deliver an etching solution at a defined rate, improving consistency in engineering fabrication. The pump regulates fluid flow and exposure time, while the etchant reacts with and selectively dissolves exposed regions of a substrate or component. This approach supports repeatable surface modification, feature formation, and microfabrication where precise control of reagent volume and delivery is important. By reducing manual handling and flow variability, syringe pump etching can improve process reproducibility and help researchers optimize etchant concentration, pumping rate, and treatment duration for specialized manufacturing applications.

ATP Driven Pumps III: V-type Pumps

2023

V-type pumps are ATP-driven pumps found in the vacuolar membranes of plants, yeast, endosomal and lysosomal membranes of animal cells, plasma membranes of a few specialized eukaryotic cells, and some prokaryotes. They are also known as the V1Vo-ATPase, that couple ATP hydrolysis to transport protons against a concentration gradient. The peripheral or cytosolic V1 domain with eight subunits is involved in ATP hydrolysis. The integral or transmembrane V0 domain containing at least five subunits...
