Zinc Oxide Deposition

Zinc oxide deposition is the fabrication of a zinc oxide (ZnO) film or coating on a substrate, an engineering process used to tailor surface, electrical, optical, and functional properties. Depending on the method, chemical precursors or ZnO-containing material reaches the substrate through vapor-phase transport, sputtering, or solution processing, where nucleation and film growth are controlled by temperature, pressure, composition, and deposition rate. Engineers use deposited ZnO in transparent conductive layers, sensors, piezoelectric devices, and protective or photocatalytic coatings. Film thickness, crystal structure, defect concentration, and adhesion strongly influence device performance, making deposition control important for reproducible electronics, energy systems, and advanced materials.
