Digital Platforms

Digital platforms are software-based systems that connect users, data, and services through shared online infrastructures, enabling information exchange and coordinated activity. They work by integrating interfaces, databases, algorithms, and communication networks that collect, process, and present data, often allowing multiple participants to contribute or access resources. In environmental research and management, these platforms can combine observations from sensors, satellites, field surveys, and public reports to monitor ecosystems, track pollution, and support evidence-based decisions. Their value depends on data quality, interoperability, transparency, and responsible governance, which help translate complex environmental information into timely actions for conservation, planning, and climate resilience.

Electrowetting-based digital microfluidic is a technique that utilizes a voltage-driven change in the apparent contact angle of a microliter-volume droplet to facilitate its manipulation. Combining this with functionalized magnetic beads enables the integration of multiple laboratory unit operations for sample preparation and identification of pathogens using Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA).
