Differentiation Technique

Differentiation is a mathematical technique for determining how a function changes as its input varies, making it fundamental to calculus and quantitative modeling. It defines the derivative as the limit of the average rate of change over increasingly small intervals, producing the slope of a function at a particular point; standard rules, such as the power, product, quotient, and chain rules, streamline calculations for complex expressions. In mathematics, differentiation supports curve analysis, optimization, approximation, and the study of motion and growth, while its results help identify maxima, minima, and critical points in scientific, engineering, and economic models.

Differential staining is an essential microbiological technique that exploits variations in cell wall structures to classify and identify microorganisms. It facilitates the distinction of bacteria, aiding in diagnostic and research applications. Two of the most widely used differential staining methods are Gram staining and acid-fast staining, both of which rely on the chemical and structural differences in bacterial cell walls.Gram Staining TechniqueGram staining differentiates bacteria by...

A Co-culture Technique for Differentiating Human Neural Progenitor Cells into Neurons

2025

This video demonstrates a method to differentiate human neural progenitor cells (NPCs) into neurons. The NPCs are introduced onto an established mouse astrocyte-rat cortical neuron co-culture, promoting NPC differentiation into neurons. The differentiation is confirmed by visualizing the cells under a confocal microscope.

An In Vitro Technique to Differentiate GM-CSF Producing T Helper Cells from Naïve T Cells

2025

This video demonstrates the in vitro differentiation of granulocyte-macrophage-colony-stimulating factor or GM-CSF-producing T helper cells (THGM). Isolated naïve T cells are stimulated for differentiation into THGM, which is confirmed by detecting high intracellular GM-CSF production and a low expression of other T helper cell-specific cytokines.
