Minimized Pulp Resection

Minimized pulp resection is a conservative dental procedure that removes only the diseased or inflamed portion of the dental pulp while preserving as much healthy, vital tissue as possible. During treatment, the clinician excises a limited area of exposed coronal pulp, controls bleeding, disinfects the site, and seals it with a biocompatible material and a durable restoration. This tissue-preserving approach supports continued pulp vitality and can reduce the need for complete root-canal treatment, particularly in teeth with reversible inflammation, traumatic exposure, or developing roots. It also contributes to minimally invasive endodontics by retaining natural tooth structure and supporting ongoing root maturation.

Source: Alomari, S., et al. Implementation of Minimally Invasive Brain Tumor Resection in Rodents for High Viability Tissue Collection. J. Vis. Exp. (2022)This video demonstrates the use of a minimally invasive resection system (MIRS) to excise tumor tissue from an anesthetized mouse implanted with a tumor. The procedure involves securing the mouse onto a stereotactic frame, reopening the previous surgical site to access the brain, and inserting a specialized cannula that utilizes suction and a...

Industrial wastes can be collected and modified to analyze microbial growth. Lignocellulose extraction techniques provide components to analyze specific biodegradation ability. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry identifies fermentation products of microorganisms grown on pulping waste. These methods determine the metabolic capacity of microorganisms to degrade pulping waste.

Establishing a Co-Culture of Dental Pulp Cells and Trigeminal Neurons for Cross-Communication

This video showcases a technique for establishing a co-culture of trigeminal neurons and primary dental pulp cells using a transwell filter. In this physically separated condition, mesenchymal cells obtained from dental pulp tissue secrete paracrine signaling molecules that traverse through the pores, promoting the differentiation and migration of neurons towards the mesenchymal cells establishing a co-culture system.

Endoscopic septoplasty is a time-honored surgical procedure with multiple variations. This paper focuses on a step-by-step surgical approach to perform a modified septoplasty procedure known as limited two-line resection. This surgical technique can be applied to correct a deviated nasal septum in the absence of an external nasal deformity.
