Post Surgery Recovery

Post-surgery recovery is the biological and clinical process through which the body heals and regains function after an operation, making it a central part of safe, effective medical care. It involves tissue repair, inflammation control, restoration of mobility, and monitoring for complications such as infection, bleeding, or delayed healing. Recovery plans commonly combine pain management, wound care, physical activity, nutrition, medication use, and follow-up assessment, with timing and intensity adapted to the procedure and the patient’s condition. Understanding these stages helps clinicians support healing, guide patient decisions, reduce complications, and improve outcomes across surgical specialties.

2016

Source: Kay Stewart, RVT, RLATG, CMAR; Valerie A. Schroeder, RVT, RLATG. University of Notre Dame, IN The Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals1 dictates that rodent survival surgery be performed aseptically. Aseptic technique utilizes specific practices that minimize the contamination of the surgical site, including patient preparation, surgeon preparation, sterilization of instruments and other supplies, and the use of a clean and controlled environment. Presurgical planning,...

The monitoring of extracellular neurotransmitter levels in distinct brain regions of freely moving animals offers insights on the link between neurotransmitter release and behavior. In vivo microdialysis coupled with electrochemical detection provides excellent anatomical and chemical resolution; and information on how basal neurotransmission is altered by pharmacological or physiological manipulations.

Olfactory ensheathing cells (OECs) are neural crest cells which allow growth of the primary olfactory neurons. This specific property can be used for cellular transplantation. We present here a model of cellular transplantation based on the use of OECs in a laryngeal nerve injury model.
