Virtual Navigation Training

Virtual Navigation Training is a simulation-based educational method that helps medical learners develop spatial orientation, route planning, and procedural navigation skills in a digital environment. Using computer-generated anatomy, clinical scenarios, or virtual representations of healthcare settings, trainees practice interpreting visual information, selecting pathways, and responding to changing conditions without immediate risk to patients. Feedback, repetition, and performance assessment can reinforce decision-making and coordination while allowing instructors to identify specific skill gaps. In medicine, this approach supports preparation for image-guided procedures, minimally invasive interventions, emergency response, and complex hospital navigation, complementing supervised clinical experience and potentially improving training consistency.

Classical fear conditioning paradigm was adapted for human participants in a fully immersive virtual reality setting. Using a discrimination paradigm, conditioned fear, cue and context memory retention, and extinction was measured with skin conductance response to dynamic virtual snakes and spiders (the conditioned stimuli) in two distinct virtual contexts.
