Immuno Panning

Immunopanning is a cell-isolation technique that uses antibodies to selectively purify specific cell types from a mixed tissue suspension, making it valuable for studying neural cells with greater population specificity. In this process, antibodies immobilized on coated plates capture cells expressing matching surface antigens, while nonbinding cells are removed through washing and the retained population is released for culture or analysis. In neuroscience, immunopanning enables enrichment of neurons, astrocytes, oligodendrocytes, and other neural populations from brain tissue. The method supports primary cell culture, gene-expression studies, disease modeling, and investigations of cell-specific development and function.
