Neurolucida 360

Neurolucida 360 is a software platform for three-dimensional reconstruction and quantitative analysis of neurons from microscopy images, helping neuroscientists characterize cellular morphology and connectivity. It uses image-guided, automated, and user-directed tracing to follow neuronal structures such as somata, dendrites, axons, and spines across image stacks while generating digital models for measurement. In neuroscience research, these reconstructions support analyses of neuronal architecture, synaptic structure, circuit organization, and morphological changes associated with development, disease, or experimental manipulation. By converting complex microscopy data into standardized quantitative representations, Neurolucida 360 facilitates reproducible comparisons across cells, brain regions, and studies.

2026

This protocol describes circumferential transforaminal endoscopic lumbar foraminotomy for 360° decompression of the exiting nerve root in patients with lumbar foraminal stenosis using a step-by-step, landmark-based approach to achieve adequate bony and soft-tissue decompression.

Local Heat Probe Assay: A Method to Assess Nociception of High Temperatures in Drosophila Larvae

2023

Drosophila larvae have dedicated sensory neurons–nociceptors–whose response to potentially harmful thermal stimuli triggers aversive–or so-called "nocifensive"–behaviors in the animal. This video describes a method to assess thermal nociception by recording larval behavior in response to local application of a heat probe onto the cuticle. This method is, therefore, called the local heat probe assay.

Isolation and Culture of Primary Neurons and Glia from a Rat Urinary Bladder

2025

This video demonstrates a technique for generating a primary culture of neurons and glia from a rat's urinary bladder. It outlines the steps involved in tissue preparation, enzymatic digestion to obtain single cells, and culturing the cells in a neuron-specific medium to establish a primary neuronal and glial culture.

(2019)This video demonstrates the procedure for using photoacoustic imaging to observe changes in the cortical vessels of an anesthetized rat. The process includes baseline imaging, dye injection, and analysis of dye absorption and clearance during wash-in and wash-out.

A Lentiviral Transcriptional Reporter System to Generate a Glioblastoma Stem Cell Differentiation Reporter Line

2025

This video demonstrates a technique to generate a glioblastoma stem cell reporter line to identify the differentiation of glioblastoma stem cells (GSCs) into astroglia. It outlines the steps involved in seeding GSCs, transducing them with a lentivirus encoding GFP, and determining GFP reporter expression through flow cytometry.
