Piv Seeding Tracers

PIV seeding tracers are small particles introduced into a fluid so particle image velocimetry (PIV) can measure the fluid’s motion. When a laser sheet illuminates the tracers, a camera records successive images, and software calculates particle displacement between image pairs to determine local velocity and flow direction. Tracers must be sufficiently small and responsive to follow the fluid while producing clear image signals without significantly disturbing the flow. In physics, they support quantitative studies of velocity fields, turbulence, vortices, mixing, and boundary layers, providing experimental data for validating fluid-dynamics models and characterizing complex flow behavior.

Seed Structure and Early Development of the Sporophyte

2020

Seed structures are composed of a protective seed coat surrounding a plant embryo, and a food store for the developing embryo. The embryo contains the precursor tissues for leaves, stem, and roots. The endosperm and cotyledons—seed leaves—act as the food reserves for the growing embryo. The embryo contains a double set of chromosomes, one set from each parent. Fertilization of the haploid egg by the haploid sperm gives rise to the zygote, which develops into the embryo. The endosperm is a...

In order to study brain reorganization under pathological conditions we used miniosmotic pumps for direct protein delivery into the brain circumventing the blood brain barrier. Tract tracers are then injected to study alterations in brain connectivity under the influence of the protein.
