Neurobehavioral Performance Assessment

Neurobehavioral Performance Assessment is a structured approach for measuring how nervous system function influences behavior, cognition, and task performance. It uses standardized behavioral tasks and observations to evaluate domains such as attention, reaction time, memory, motor coordination, and emotional responses under defined testing conditions. Researchers and clinicians apply these assessments to characterize behavioral changes, monitor effects of neurological injury or disease, and evaluate responses to environmental exposures, medications, or other interventions. By linking measurable performance outcomes with brain and nervous system function, the method supports objective comparisons across individuals, experimental groups, and time points.

The primary outcome measure in clinical trials for neuromuscular disorders is generally improved muscle function. Therefore, assessing the effect of potential therapeutic compounds on muscle performance pre clinically in mouse models is of great importance. We here describe several functional tests to address this.
